Janice Miner Holden, Ed.D. After earning her doctorate in counselling in 1988, Jan Holden came from Illinois to join the counselling program faculty at the University of North Texas in Denton, just north of Dallas/Fort Worth, where she now is professor of counselling. Her primary area of specialization is the transpersonal perspective in counselling, based on the assumption that people are essentially spiritual beings having a human experience. In particular, she has researched near-death experiences and is serving in her third year as President of the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS). She leads a monthly support and interest group in Lewisville, a suburb north of Dallas, for people who have had near-death and/or other transpersonal experiences or who have personal or professional interest in such experiences. Jan is a Licensed Professional Counsellor and Counsellor Supervisor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and National Certified Counsellor. She maintains a small private practice in counselling in Lewisville where she works primarily with individual adults and with couples.
